Q: What is usually assigned for
homework? A. The short answer is it depends. Sometimes homework is assigned to give students a chance to finish work that they didn't finish in class. Other times homework is in the form of a special assignment (science project, journal reflections, etc). From time to time homework might simply be to get something signed or retell an activity we did in class. Regardless of what the homework is, it should take no longer than about 30 minutes. If your child has given you 30 minutes of on task time and the homework still isn't complete please just sign the agenda to let us know. |
Q. My child says they have no homework. Is that
true? A. No, not really. While it might be true that I have not assigned any "official" homework that night it is expected that each student read for 10-15 minutes nightly. Taking the time to read at home helps to build reading fluency and increases your child's confidence and participation in class. Likewise, time spent practicing basic number facts is always time well spent. The faster your child's computational skills are, the more confident and engaged they are in class. |
